Hands-down, companies support the Blackberry over all other types of mobile phones, as reported by CIOES members. The preferred SmartPhone device for 73.7 percent of our CIO respondents is Blackberry. Standard cell phones were the second most supported type of phone, at 47.4 percent. iPhones reportedly make up about a third of phones that are supported by companies. Droids and Treos trailed behind in the rankings, at 15.8 percent. Other types of mobile phones that are supported make up just over a quarter of all mobile phones that are supported by the companies of our respondents.
We see that businesses supporting 100 or more phones are using Blackberries and plain phones by a huge margin. Likewise, our study shows that most company procured phones are Blackberrys and standard cell phones- most likely due to an ease of reuse.
This graph shows us that all CIO CrowdSource Survey participants reported that random SmartPhone support takes between 10 and 20 percent of Helpdesk time.
