This afternoon, I had the pleasure of interviewing Simon Clephan, VP System Integrator Alliances at AppSense. Simon was a guest during our last virtual roundtable on VDI and I wanted to learn more about what valuable services AppSense provides CIOs who are implementing Virtual Desktop technology in their organizations. With the explosion of mobility of users, there is an immediate need to move the user from a personal PC to a standardized virtual desktop. In essence, extending mobile computing down to users who have personal laptops, iPhones, Droids, tablets, etc.
One of the issues with VDI has been that it is best deployed in static environments that don’t change often. What if you could customize and stream down to the user their own computing environment, irrespective of computing device being used? This concept of decoupling the application layer from the OS and hardware itself is where AppSense fits in. With user virtualization, user data within the physical PC is decoupled and moved to a central store.
AppSense is virtualizing the application layer. If you are a CIO employed by a financial institution or health care company, SEC and HIPPA compliance regulations must be met across all business and technology departments of your enterprise. AppSense gives CIOs the ability to control application access in a VDI world.
AppSense is one of the leaders in user virtualization and please watch my video discussion with Simon!
